Privacy policy

Here’s what a fairly standard Privacy Policy looks like at every other company: Long Legal Document.

Here is MY Privacy Policy:

If I had a brick-and-mortar store, I wouldn’t require you to give me your personal information just for stepping in the door — and I certainly wouldn’t make you go out of your way to opt out of that creepy practice. Your privacy is important to me. So, rather than some long-winded document filled with legalese that no one ever bothers to read — and really, let’s face it, the whole point of it is to absolve myself of any legal liability should someone get upset about being creeped on — let’s instead break this down into plain, simple terms:

  • If I wouldn’t do it in person, I won’t do it online. This goes for my website, my emails, my blog, my store… anything that is within the just-julie.com domain. See bullet point #3 for a bit more about this.

  • This website will, at some point, have artwork intended for children. Regardless of age, it will never be my intention to knowingly collect personal information or data on anyone without their express informed consent for very specific uses. That being said, anyone under the age of 13 must have parental consent to visit or use the website (including, and especially, purchases). If you think your child may have used this website or submitted personal information without your consent, contact me immediately and I will delete any information that may have been collected.

  • The only information I will collect from you is 1) information that you expressly give when filling out a form or completing a purchase and 2) information that Squarespace, Stripe, or any other business-related products I use require of me. This includes things like cookies and analytics tracking. I have any and all non-required cookies (including analytics cookies) turned OFF on this website. To learn more about what each of those requirements are, you can visit each of those businesses’ websites for an exhaustive list. Though I do discuss some of these in my Anti-Creepy Pledge.

  • Any information that is collected will be treated with the utmost honor and respect. I will not sell your information to anyone. I will not use your information for any reason whatsoever other than to complete the process of your purchases and/or communicate with you via the mediums you have expressly given consent to (like emails, for example).

  • The only time your information will be shared with a third party is if I’m legally required to do so. Should you ever have any questions about if/how your information is being used in regards to a third party, feel free to contact me. The law says I only have to offer this third party open information request to residents of California, but ANY of my customers are afforded this right under my policy.

  • You can review and change your personal information by logging into the website and visiting your account profile page. If you ever have any questions about your personal information, or wish to have your information deleted, feel free to contact me.

  • I believe in doing everything possible from my end of things to keep the information you do submit to me secure. However, the safety and security of your information is ultimately your own responsibility. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although I pledge to do my very best to protect your personal information, I simply cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to my website. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. I cannot be held responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the website. This is also one of my reasons for limiting the information I collect from people in the first place. For any questions about the specifics of my safety and security measures, feel free to contact me.

  • If anything in this Privacy Policy changes, the changes will be made directly to this page. The date of last update will be maintained at the top of the page. The only time you’ll be directly notified of a change is if the update is so majorly different than the previous policy that it would be appropriate to invade your email inbox to let you know.

  • Ultimately, YOU are in charge of your information. YOU get to decide what information you share, if any. If there’s ever a dispute about your information being collected or used, contact me! I’m always happy to accommodate, to the best of my ability, each customer’s data preferences.
